Made in Holland by the Royal Mcbee Corporation in the mid-50s to early 60s, the Royalite was designed as an entry-level, compact, ultra-portable typewriter, it is lightweight and durable with solid mechanics and good basic functionality.
ABOUT THIS MACHINE:
For typewriter enthusiasts and collectors - The 1963 Royal CITADEL is essentially a repatriated Halberg Traveller and this particular model is the cosmetically altered Royalite, with a raised ribbon cover. If you're a typewriter aficionado, you may also recognize this as the model design commissioned by Singer which sold as the "Scholastic" or Model T-4.
With its two-tone industrial Gray/Blue exterior, all-metal housing and vintage leatherette carrying case, the CITADEL is wonderfully portable and intuitive to use.
RECOMMENDED USER: The CITADEL is an excellent choice for BEGINNER typists of all ages, CASUAL correspondents, the sporadic journalist or budding collector.
This also makes a thoughtful gift for grandparents or other beloved elders who have grown weary of the digital age and forgetful of passwords: How lovely to receive a simple writing machine that doesn’t require a charging cable and won’t burn* the house down if left on.
The CITADEL is also the perfect HIPSTER ACCESSORY. Its retro curves are rather sexy and the compact size makes an easy to grab-and-go: Just right for Glamping trips, Sleepovers, Type-Ins or Coffee House hangs.
The CITADEL is best suited for casual use **LIGHT to MEDIUM DUTY** and is an excellent BASIC typewriter.
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR: The "Serious" Collector or Productive Writer, Key Chopper, Farm Animal, Malcontent.
This typewriter comes with a brand NEW Black ribbon installed, a copy of the user's manual, a NEW non-skid typewriter pad, and original leatherette travel case.
