If this 1964 ROYAL PARADE ultra-portable typewriter took out a personal ad, it would read something like this:
SINGLE *BI* RETRO ANALOG-TYPE LOOKING 4 LOVE
Mature freelancer seeks like-minded individual who enjoys being indoors.
A mutual desire for casual correspondence, recipe sharing,
cooking up short stories and general analog dithering a must.
I am 56 years old; whatever your age, I will probably outlive you.
If your idea of bliss entails long afternoons spent with the
pitter-patter of little typebars, a ream of paper and fresh ink,
we are likely soul mates.
I am fluent in Qwerty and Pica with a passable Dutch accent.
It is also worth noting; I am a Royal.
I don't, "Do Digital."
Don't even think about plugging me in.
You don't need to turn me on.
We will not be unpacking anything.
I do not need to know your password.
I am an excellent travel companion and a light packer.
I am petite, yet solidly built and considered slim,
if somewhat flat-chested; in short, I turn a lot of heads.
I have a sporadic vibrator - I do not enjoy the
Perhaps due to my age, I prefer to take things slow, if I go too fast
it trips me up and triggers my escape mechanism.

Overall, this 1964 PARADE is in VERY GOOD condition.
COSMETICALLY, There is mild scratching around the edges and corners of the frame but no chips, gouges or dents. The back of the typewriter bears some ink staining and light scratching as well. (Pic 8&9 for detail, more available upon request.)
Both the ribbon cover and exterior housing have been waxed and polished with Renaissance Wax to protect it from further wear.
The original case has been mended and cleaned, upgraded from FAIR condition to GOOD.
The travel case's interior has been treated & sanitized; all latches and closure are in perfect working condition. Both interior and exterior show signs of wear conducive to a live well-traveled. (Please request photos for additional detail of case condition if this concerns you.)
MECHANICALLY, the PARADE is in GOOD condition - *Most* features work as they should, the typewriter is mechanically fine, the platen has been treated to maintain it's grip, and the margin bell gives a nice, cheery ping when reached.
1. Despite repeated adjustments, the vibrator remains stubbornly opposed to typing in the shift-lock position in Black, aka the top half of the ribbon.
(Red, or the bottom half, is no problem - go figure).
2. The ribbon vibrator will also frequently jump and stay up, obscuring type if a single press of the shift is used to type a capital letter. ***This is remedied by a quick toggle of the color change lever up and back - the ribbon instantly returns to position.
There is no issue typing in small caps in any color position.
***A note for this workaround will be included with the sale.
3. One last quirk; this typewriter actually works better with PLASTIC SPOOLS as opposed to metal.
This typewriter is in fine working condition and has a NEW Black & Red ribbon installed.
Its total weight in the carrying case is 13 lbs, or 11 pounds on the desktop.
The typeface, or "font" is the highly legible PICA yielding 12 characters per inch.
